Welcome to a new season of football and fun!
Thank you players for joining the club this year.
For those who don’t know me, my name is Mark Hodges and I am the new Club Chairman.
To keep you up to date I will aim to keep you posted on forthcoming events, activities that may affect players, parents , guardians or the club.
Our club secretary is Liz Cunningham and we have an enthusiastic bunch of directors, Mike Dewdney, Glenn Thompson, Nick Maybourne, Susanne Sprent, Freddie Rogers, Justin Godden and Andrew Cutler.
There is a lot that goes on in the background to running a junior football club across the age groups and therefore on a regular basis we meet up to discuss what is going on and what is required for the running of the club.
We welcome input from everyone involved with the club.
We also have our Managers and Age group coordinators (AGC’s) and our welfare officer Louise Summer.
All of us are volunteers and give our time freely.
So a big thankyou to everyone for their continuing efforts. The club wouldn’t exist without volunteers.
We are always looking for NEW VOLUNTEERS. If you are able to help in anyway then please let the club know, through the AGCs, managers or Directors.
There will be further announcements on forthcoming events where you can get involved.
So to the news:
Most teams have now started playing the first games and I hope all is going well. I look forward to the updates.
The club doesn’t make money. After fees of paying homewood school for the use of indoors and Appledore road, pitch fees, insurances, league fees, replacement kit, fines, to name a few, we breakeven.
Therefore a separate fundraising comittee has been formed to organise fun events to raise more funds for the club. Look out for annoucements on how you can get involved.
Replacement kits are being ordered where required.
Hopefully these will arrive soon to the age groups where it is needed.
Appledore Road’s containers, that contain alot of the club equipment, old and new have now been cleared and made tidy.
We have use of Homewoods Appledore Road pitch (as well as others) this year and alongside the main pitch a smaller pitch has been marked out. This will help out the u10s when the top of the recreation ground is not available due to the rain.
Tiger Cubs for the u6,u7 (stage 1 and stage 2, school year). We now offer training to this age group on a Saturday morning at 9am at the top of the recreation ground. The first two session are free but please not this is only training only for the season (no matches no club kit). We are offering this at only £25 to build up the age grouo – so spread the word!
Thank you for you continued support
